Dr Jamie-Lea Whyte MBBS, FRACGP, BSc. Medical Doctor – General Practitioner – Business Owner – Mother & Wife

Dr Jamie is a local Gold Coaster with a heart for people. She was attracted to General Practice (family medicine) for its unique platform to engage at an intimate level and build a relationship through all life stages. She values the ability to promote a wellness journey for anyone at any stage of their life. She thrives in the idea of partnering with her patients to promote an improved quality of life, where prevention always trumps a reactive model.

As a mother of three young children and supportive wife, family connectedness is a crucial grounding that keeps a healthy balance for Dr Jamie. The family and work juggle is something that she feels keeps her relatable to her patient cohort, including the grandparent patients who often say they get to ‘hand them back’.

Dr Jamie’s also values staying in touch with the various local community General Practice groups on the Gold Coast. This also extends to regular attendances at after-hours or weekend education sessions to ensure she is up to date with the latest health and management insights.

Dr Jamie has particular interests in the areas of General Practice such as pregnancy care, new family care, breastfeeding, women’s health, peri-menopausal care and chronic disease – including a holistic focus on generational support and ensuring families have created an appropriate ‘end of life legacy’ health strategy. She considers it important to always be planning ahead for the next life phase.

Dr Jamie aligns her practice in accordance with the principles and ethics of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners to whom she is Fellowed with. Her practice remains that of best evidence and in keeping with general peer opinion.
